Discovery Canyon Red Deer, Ab

During hot summer days, nothing will be more refreshing than planning the perfect family getaway and adventure trip to water parks.

​The Discovery Canyon is one place to be! It has a one of a kind lazy river, massive playground for children that is nature-themed, a full menu concession, bench area, plenty of washrooms and picnic tables. This is perfect for guests of all ages so the entire family can surely enjoy the cruising down on the sloped canyon through the bubbling pools and into the sandy beach river-fed pools. It is not only for fun but the Discovery Canyon is also educational for kids as it has informative signs water cycle all throughout the park from glaciers to the Red Deer River.

It is open from the first weekend of June up to September from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, take note that the dates are subjected to the weather conditions. The location of the site is along the Red Deer River, 3.5 kilometers north of 30 Avenue and 67 Street.

The admission is free and if you didn’t bring any float tubes, Discovery Canyon has some available for rent at the concession for only $5 and you need to deposit your ID if you decided to avail of this service. If you decided to bring your own float tubes please take note that it shouldn’t be larger than 50 inches and smaller than 30 inches across. And remember to highly supervise your children’s activities for there is no lifeguard available on the park and usage of life jackets is strongly advised.
